Benefit from my many years of working with Joomla!

I know the system and its code. I speak its language – and yours.
Together, we will develop your accessible website and ensure that Joomla becomes a truly valuable tool in your daily business operations. From design development and information architecture to training your staff in the professional use of Joomla, I support you as a reliable partner.

Joomla Service

You already have a Joomla website that needs an update, or you have realized that Joomla is the ideal tool for your requirements. Here you will find an overview of the areas in which I can support you.

Joomla Content-Architektur & Backend-Design

A CMS is only as good as its usability. I structure your Joomla backend so that your editorial team can work intuitively. I consistently rely on core functionalities such as custom fields and overrides to precisely customize layouts without compromising the core of the system. Complemented by a clear information architecture in the frontend, I ensure that complex content is structured in such a way that users, search engines, and AI systems can immediately find what they are looking for.

Accessible Joomla Templates

I develop individual templates from the scratch that are technologically up to date: lean, fast, and accessible. Instead of standard solutions, I create customized front ends that are tailored precisely to your requirements and those of your target group. Clean programming and consistent implementation of WCAG standards result in websites that work.

Joomla Extensions and E-Commerce

When standard solutions reach their limits, I work with my team to develop customized tools directly within the Joomla ecosystem: I design tailor-made plugins, components, and shops for your specific requirements.

Joomla-Updates

I guide you safely through technological change: From Joomla core upgrades to technically clean migrations to the latest version, I ensure that your website remains stable and future-proof, including auditing and customizing all extensions.

How Joomla became my toolbox

More than 20 years ago, I faced the decision to migrate my static pages to a content management system. After extensive evaluation, I came across Mambo — at the time still a small system with manageable code.

It soon became clear to me where the system’s weakness lay: accessible content output was not possible. I joined Mambo’s design and accessibility team and wrote the first core hack that enabled accessible content output. To this day, accessibility remains a major concern for me.

Joomla! – a system with extensive functionality

In mid-2005, Joomla emerged as a fork from the original Mambo code. Today, Joomla is one of the most widely used open-source content management systems in the world. This is due in no small part to its ease of use and extensive feature set.

For me as a developer and designer, template development plays a central role. Templates not only define the look & feel of a site, but also control content output. This was already a focus of my work in Mambo, and I continued to apply this expertise within the Joomla team. Among other things, I was responsible for the conception and implementation of the accessible default template Beez in Joomla 2.5. I was also part of the Joomla 4 Experience Team, where I worked on optimizing the user experience.

My involvement in the Joomla project has spanned various roles since then:

  • August 2022 – May 2024: UX Strategist in the Joomla Experience Team
  • Since September 2022: Accessibility Advisor in the Joomla Accessibility & Usability Team
  • Since 11/2025: Team Lead, Conflict Resolution Team
  • Since December 2025: Secretary on the Board of Open Source Matters
  • Feb. 2026: Team Lead, Website Relaunch Team
  • A personal highlight was drafting and submitting the project proposal through which Joomla was officially recognized as a Digital Public Good.

Passion and Goals

Over all these years, it has always been important to me to further develop Joomla technically, strengthen the community, and make the CMS accessible and user-friendly.
